Importance of English Proficiency for SBI PO Aspirants

SBI PO 2019 notification is expected in the month of April-May 2019 and the exam is expected to be held in the month July 2019. The exam will be accomplished in three phases such as Phase I, Phase II and Phase III. Candidates need to fulfill the criterion to fill the application form for the same within the deadline. Selected candidates will be employed anywhere in India or even outside India.

We have divided the whole content of English Language of SBI PO into four major sections and these sections are:-
  1. Reading Comprehension
  2. Verbal Ability
  3. Grammar
  4. Vocabulary

  1. Reading Comprehension
It is essential that students should develop the habit of reading regularly. The practice of reading regularly will help you to read swiftly and will give you proper understanding of the article. The students are advised to be become daily reader of daily English Newspapers, novels, books etc.  While solving reading comprehension, the students are supposed to go through all the passage. While reading, they have to judge the subject, theme, bottom line and topic of the passage. The given passage can be about current affairs, sports event, social issue, political happening, and banking issues etc. The students should always remember, the answers of the asked questions lies within the passage so don’t apply any external knowledge or guess work in answering questions. While solving multiple choice questions, the students can choose elimination method to answer question correctly.  
  1. Verbal Ability
The section of Verbal Ability is all about Para Jumbles and is either passage based or on predefined sentence. The numbers, dates, places or names are given in the opening sentences. So judge it correctly. The arrangement of them should be done accurately to arrive at the logical interpretation between them. If you are solving questions based on Para Jumbles with predefined sentences then there are chances that sentence that need to arrange is a supporting statement. There is a high probability that some questions of this section can be solved through elimination method.
  1. Grammar
The Grammar section mainly comprises of Error Spotting, Fill in the blank (double) and phrase replacements.
  • Error Spotting
Normally speaking, the students have to read the whole sentence to spot the error. If students are facing it difficult then they can use the verb-subject agreement.
  • Cloze Test
While attempting questions on Cloze Test, the students will be provided with one paragraph with few blanks in the exam. To make the paragraph meaningful, they have to fill the appropriate words in the blanks. Generally speaking, the students can spot the right term simply within the context of the sentences. While solving these questions, the technique of elimination has worked very well.
  • Fill in the blank (Double)
In this section, the students will be given a statement with two blanks and two answers for each blank and they have to choose the best combination to be filled in the blanks. The student’s accurate reading and understanding abilities can help them solve these questions easily.
  1. Vocabulary
This section comprises of Para jumbles, antonyms and synonyms and paragraph based fill in the blanks. You should try to understand the theme and the concept of the given paragraph. It will help you in arranging the Para Jumbles easily and quickly. You should develop the habit of regularly reading and understanding articles, columns and reviews from English Newspapers, blogs, books, novels etc on daily basis. It will help you build a good word power and will help in learning and understanding antonyms and synonyms of typical words.
